Featured Artist: ThatsSoSavanna

This week we are really excited about introducing you to our amazing Featured Artist, ThatsSewSavanna! Savanna LeCheminant, the owner of ThatsSewSavanna, lives in Sacremento, CA with her solider husband Derek, and two beautiful children. Savanna has always loved to create and can completely lose herself in a project. Completed items were often described as "So Savanna" and my friends and family would affectionately refer to her quirky tendencies due to being wrapped up in a project (late for something, paint splattered, using something different than what it is used for) as "So Savanna". Clever name!

Savanna love's creating new items and her shop reflects all of her different interests. Lace Masks, Signs and various Tutu Sets are regulars in the shop but you can often find new items that are available for a limited time only.

It is hard to say when Savanna started crafting. She was always making things or using something in some other way than the intended purpose. As an adult, having her own home has definitely changed the way she creates. She no longer has just a craft room, she has a craft house! Savanna wants each room in her home to feel inspiring and comfortable. She mentions that she wishes she was one of those people that keep a pristine studio but that is just not her. She get messy with her projects so she have to feel comfortable in the space that she's working in. Savanna likes the freedom she feel when she am making something. Growing up Savanna was always told she could be anything she wanted and now that's how she look at other objects. With enough creativity she could make them into anything!

At the beginning of this year Savanna was asked to be a judge at the Regional Future Homemakers of America competition. The FHA Leaders heard of her through word of mouth in the community, it was very flattering. She really enjoyed seeing the kids in the Sewing Compilation round. It was nice to see this new generation of kids care about sewing. It made her think of her journey to her own dream machine. Savanna started out with a really crummy sewing machine and quickly decided this just wash't working. She sold tutus and hair bows for about a year and a half and saved it all until she could afford the Huskvarna Machine she had been coveting.

Currently, Savanna's favorite item in her entire shop is the Glass Hair Spiral. She thinks this is the perfect summer hair accessory. You simply select the hair you would like to have in it, twist and then wrap it around the spiral. Give the hair a slight tug. If the spiral slips at all you have not added enough hair, add more and try again. When you have the Glass spiral secure you can feel free to wear it all day! Great for everyday wear, night out, concerts, and parties.

Savanna had a hard time but when asked what her 3 favorite items currently listed on The CraftStar were she decided upon this wood tea light candle holder from RusticCraft, the sewing machine bobbin necklace from Jean Skipper Originals, and this crocheted popcorn afghan from The Needle House!
