Can you believe that we're almost through April already? Where does the time go? This past week we got to hang out with Russ and Dhea Powers from Javabead.com and this neon bracelet was very big on our wishlist. Neon is so hot for Spring and Summer so when we discovered this bracelet we knew immediately that it was something we had to share with all of our The CraftStar folks!
The couple lives in Washington State and are the mom and dad to three spoiled, extremely cute pugs, Sophie Abby, and Darla. Their two goats, Boaz and Ruth, round out their troops!
Russ and Dhea started making lampwork beads and jewelry about 10 years ago. It all started when they started selling beads online for extra income. First the couple opened an online bead shop on eBay and did really well, so soon after, Russ was able to quit his full time job and work from home with his wife. Having her best friend to work with every day, Dhea realized how blessed she was. It really brought the couple closer together.
Being around other artists and an entire online beading community they were introduced to handmade lampwork beads. Lampwork beads sort of brought out the hidden artist within that neither one of them knew they had. Dhea happens to think her husband makes the prettiest boro glass beads in the world! Dhea mentions that although neither of them have had any major recognition they have had them in the eyes of each other, their family and friends, and of course their awesome customers. Each day they thank Jesus for anything and everything they have been able to do. It's been amazing to watch.
About 2 months ago, they started a new chapter in their lives. They are no longer able to afford working from home so Russ has taken a full time job during the week and makes his beads on Saturdays. Dhea is still home as a full time jewelry designer, part time lampworker and pug mommy.
Beautiful Spring, is a romantic artisan floral bracelet that features glass lampwork beads made by Carolyn Conley. This bracelet is by far Dhea and Russ's most favorite item in their shop. The bracelet closes using a gorgeous romantic silver metal toggle clasp with a matching butterfly charm and white teardrop pearls that dangle below your wrist.
These soy wax tarts from Green Illumination, as well as these ceramic tile coasters from Queen of De Tile, and this peanut butter cup candle from Candlelit Desserts are items currently listed on The CraftStar that the couple admit they couldn't live without and plan on purchasing as soon as more funds become available.
